| Summary | 0003892: invisible character making it possible to 'clone' channels. | ||||
| Description | There was a guy that noticed if you put "" before your channel name , it will show up invisible in most IRCds , or is it the clients fault? Such as #test will look the same as #test on the list and could be used to clone a channel. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | just use the correct characters in-between # and channel name. | ||||
| 3rd party modules | |||||

Perhaps it is the client's fault; Mibbit.com doesn't replicate it while mIRC and Xchat does. |

Yeah that really depends on the client and the fonts (and character set) that are in use. So might look invisible on one, and perfectly normal on another. I however happen to work on something that will also have the option to disable creating channels with such characters, not that it's a total solution. So I'll leave this bugreport open until that's committed to CVS. If you feel it is being abused (like right now), you can always add a deny channel block on "*weirdcharacter*", or even ban a couple of them :) EDIT: it should be noted that on some other ircds, like ircnet, it's even worse, as you can have a hidden color code (or any other such code) in it. which is invisible on mIRC and many other decent IRC clients. |
